Do Schools Have Enough Supplies to Keep Students and Staff Safe?

Do you remember at the start of this pandemic, when in addition to horrifying headlines about how the virus that causes COVID-19 may be transmitted and how deadly it may be, we were all worried about shortages of toilet paper and masks?

Flash-forward to October: We have the toilet paper situation covered, but it may surprise you to know that the crisis to get enough personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks and gloves, to those who need it the most.

I’ve begun working on the blog for Get Us PPE, a new non-profit that provides donated PPE at no cost to frontline workers and under-resourced communities with a sense of urgency and a focus on equity.

Get Us PPE is also the largest non-government source of data about needs for personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks and gloves, in the U.S., based on PPE requests received by the organization.
